Ben thinks for a moment, then shakes his head. "No, I don't think that will work after all. I have just remembered that Maurice specifically prohibited us from removing anything from the premises and gave presumably Hans instructions to that effect. We'll have to do this the old-fashioned way after all." "You're right, and whatever obligations the old man hasn't defaulted on, he seems to fulfill fervently." Roger stuffs the two books under his coat, and discards the receipt-in-progress. "Should we get the other two out of here? I'm fairly certain the windows are closed." "Very much so. Hmm, if worst comes to worst we can always threaten Hans with disclosing his lack of attention to the house."

"Good point. Alright, let's go upstairs and figure out what the hold-up is for them."
Roger and Ben move upstairs, calling for Henry.

Charles has fallen to a light, increasingly deeper sleep in the taxi, while David grows ever more impatient leaning against the truck, having run out of conversation topics with the stoic German standing nearby.

Both Roger and Benjamin encounter Henry and Daniel in the second floor hallway, right about where the broken railing was poorly fixed. Roger almost drops the books he's hidden on himself. The gaping hole in the ceiling where the chandelier once hung stares down at them.

"You gotta help me smuggle some books!"
Roger pulls Bertrand's Journal from his coat and shakes it at Henry.
"We're pretty sure Hans won't like us getting out of here with these journals."

David enters the foyer, almost running into Roger, who is quite obviously carrying a book under his arm. Benjamin, Roger and Daniel, also carrying a book, are over by the dining room, taking various research items.

Upon entering the house, David surveys the scene with interest. "Hey there fellows, if we're going to do this, we ought to do it properly, eh? Why not let me handle the sneaking? I've got a little more experience with this sort of thing." David hands the shotgun back to Benjamin, and takes stock of the items to be surreptitiously removed from the mansion.

While more curiosities have been listed per, on-hand stock currently consists only of the four books mentioned earlier by Roger. Relevant quotes.Any journals, books and papers found so far were brought downstairs and are either in the living room or the dining room, or returned to the downstairs study. This includes (in order of appearance, grouped by current location): Living Room - Journees of Brandon Dubois- Pre-war Journal of Aaron Dubois - Diary of Beatrice Dubois, from under the mattress - Family bible with family tree - Suicide note of Elizabeth Dubois - Post-war Diary of Aaron Dubois Downstairs Study - many business and legal papers (now organized) Dining Room - A bundle of letters from the nightstand in Beatrice's bedroom. - Many papers from the desk in the upstairs study. - Journal of Bertrand Hamelin - Diary of Allen Dubois - Strange book found with diary of Allen Dubois. Roger and Ben move to the Living Room to collect the Diary of Beatrice Dubois, and the Post-War diary of Aaron Dubois. Completing that, they move to the Dining Room to collect the Journal of Bertrand Hamelin, and the Diary of Allen Dubois. "That's about the only ones I can think of to read up on. What about you?" Roger hands Ben the Diary of Allen Dubois, as well as Beatrice's diary. Daniel takes a book from Roger as they walk back down to the first floor.

Ben flips open his reporter's notepad and scribbles down Hans' words. "Hmmm. Tell me, have you been authorised to interfere with our investigation in any other way or just this one?" Hans tilts his head incredulously. He pulls out a folded piece of paper from his pocket. It's the letter from Maurice that Henry handed him this morning. "I haf explicit instructions not to let you leave mit any items." He slaps the paper with his hand to express the importance of his orders.

"Yes," he says hitting the paper, and holding it out for Benjamin. "He wrote instructions here and I," a sign of recognition floods Hans' face. He calms down slightly, "I understand. I need to know what you are taking and you must bring it back mit you in the morning." The men show Hans each of the five books they're taking. "Vat time will you be getting back?" Charles groans a little in his sleep.
Having convinced the damned dirty Hun to let them pass unmolested, the intrepid group piles into their cars, agreeing to return the next day around 10: 30am. Hans makes a mental note of this, straining his tiny, Germanic brain. Charles would later reminisce that night about the time he fast talked a trio of Huns into betraying their country for a bloody pittance. Can't trust those Huns. That was the one thing he learned most often in the war.
Leaving the mess behind in the manor, the two vehicles peeled off down the road. The loud engine startled Charles awake, but he remained mostly silent the rest of the way into town.
-18: 35-
Arriving in town, they arrive at the hotel, and Charles attempts to haggle Fast Talk, pewpew for a cheaper rate, saying that since he is with such an outstanding and famous bloke and a key member of the retinue of the great Sir Henry Slater, he should get the room at a discount. He books himself a double room for three nights. Henry and Roger begin moving their things, and all of the books, into the room they had reserved, essentially making it the major gathering place for all. Benjamin books himself a double room, charged to the newspaper of course, which he and Daniel decide to share. Which leaves David and Charles together in the final room. Charles, being exhausted and hungry, decides to make the short walk down the street to little diner he attended earlier. Getting a few dollars from each person, and after taking down orders (and sandwich for the actor, bacon, lettuce and "tomahto", everyone else wanted what was cheapest, a bit of pork, mustand and lettuce on two pieces of rye bread) Charles saunters inside.
Henry asks the receptionist if there would be a doctor available to look at one of the group, and a call is made. The doctor will arrive around 19:00. Would a doctor be able to do anything? First Aid was already successfully applied.
Gathering the provisions, Charles makes small talk with his previous waitress, about the weather, if she heard that storm rumble in. Making a big show of saying things like "cumulo-nimbus" instead of cloud. He offers her a cigarette he borrowed from one of his travelling companions, and he enjoys relaxing in relative civilization again. As the minutes pass, he begins to ask the waitress about her family. She's a widow, one daughter, now single. Charles imagines she could be cute enough, and again, makes a show of asking her name, commenting that is it beautiful, and that she must be too. If she's anything like her mother that is. The waitress blushes. Charles says he'll be around again tomorrow, mayhaps just after ten in the morning, to get more food. He thanks the waitress with a three-dollar tip and another cigarette. He also thanks the waitress for the warning she gave him earlier, doing his best to look like he's hiding his injury, showing it off only slightly.
The rest of the gentlemen move their belongings upstairs, David offering to bring up Charles' things since he went for the food. Settling in, on the beds and in the chairs around Sirrah Slater's room, plans begin to form about the following day. Since Charles is so often passive, it is decided that really, anything they decide on will be fine with him. They agree to do what they can with the books they brought with them. The chairs are comfortable enough, designed for gentlemen and thus reading. The rooms are relatively well lit.
-18:50-
Charles ascends the stairs to the third floor, where he and the others have setup. Knocking on Henry's door, "Euh, je m'excuse messeuirs, j'ai beaucoup des sandwiches pour vous." Bewilderment from within. One of the gents opens the door to see Charles beaming at them, and smelling fashionably of smoke. Regailing those who would listen (no one, save maybe the farmboy) with tales of the war, French women, and fine alcohol, the men eat their much desired food.
The plan is run past Charles as such: get lunch around 10:05, arrive at the manor around 10: 30. Show Hans the books. Two people begin to clean up the mess inside the house, namely the chandalier. Also, they decide to see what can be done with respect to the buckshot on the third floor. The other four people investigate the "virgin" areas of the property, namely the graveyard. See if there is anything significant with the gravestones, any crosses without names, that sort of thing. Until then, each of the men will attempt to make some headway on a book. Charles has been told that a doctor has been summoned and should arrive any minute now.
-18:55-
Charles asks Benjamin to help him think. He begins to wonder aloud. He mentions the incredible sense of wrongness he felt when he entered the house. He tells Ben of the blood in the flask. Remembering this Charles puts his hand in his pocket. Fuck. He left it back in the manor. A small blessing and a large curse. He begins to feel that nagging desire. He does his best to ignore it. If Ben encountered anything paranormal, this would be a good thing to quote and add detail to. All Charles knows is that there was *something* shotgun worthy which may have been a ghost.
As Charles ponders the discussion, there is a knock on the door. Dr. Steinberg enters the room, and asks who needs medical attention. Charles goes to raise his arm, wincing in pain, before raising the other and saying that it is him. The doctor goes to work.
Elsewhere, the others are reading, and having similar discussions. One thing is now well regarded within the group - something inside that house is very, very clever and malicious or unnatural and very malicious.
The reporter makes his way back to Henry's room.
-19:05 to 22:45-
Reading, discussion, including all members of the group. Charles feels less in pain now that he has seen professional medical aid. The details of tomorrow are finalized, and each of the pairs of men retire to their rooms to get a good night's sleep.
-07:00-
Morning. The men awaken, and head to the lobby, hungry as ever.

That is a fantastic post, and an excellent grasp of the reigns.
Everything is laid out fairly. From my point of view, no major alterations are needed, though I will answer a few things:
1 - The Fast Talk succeeded. 2 - The doctor is useful, no HP will be recovered, but I'll post a followup later based on other player responses to the above. Basically, I'm going to combine all posts into one huge thing.
Here is the input needed from the others 1 - Agreements / Disagreements / Inclusions to the above. 2 - Any books read and by whom and for how long. 3 - Any amount of sleep taken and sleep time-range. 4 - Embellish!

18: 35
Roger moves Henry's belongings up into their room, going back to recover the books and the small belongings he had with him.
"A polite way to put this, Henry, is that you're well prepared."
Once Charles announces his plans to visit the Diner for meals, Roger placed his order and handed him a few dollars, then later helps David move Charles' things up into his room.
Waiting for Charles, Roger talks with Ben about the previous encounter.
"Good work with Hans, there, that was a great plan. Can't shake off the feeling he's up to more than just being too scared to clean a mansion, though."
18:50
The bits of discussion were interrupted by a knock on the door.
"Euh, je m'excuse messeuirs, j'ai beaucoup des sandwiches pour vous."
Roger, confused, tries to respond in a slow, clear manner.
"WRONG ROO-Oh, what the hell, Charles? We don't speak European, you know that."
Roger starts to woof down his meal, but quickly begins to change his pace to avoid looking disinterested with Charles' stories. After everyone's meals were finished and Charles had finished up the last of his tales, they begin the planning for the next day.
"I can work to clean up the mess in the front room, but I wouldn't know how to go about repairing the damage caused upstairs. I could probably give it a look with somebody else, though. Oh yeah, and make sure that whoever we decide on to go out to explore the property, keep in mind that Hans' cat is still missing. At this point, I'm wondering if Cat is slang for something in German."
Roger picks up Beatrice's Journal, "I'll read this for the night, though I'm starting to doubt this'll do us any good."
from 18:55 onward, Roger reads Beatrice's Journal, occasionally participating in the discussion with the others.
"Remember when the four of you whoever they may be go out, the Graveyard hasn't been explored, but the immediate perimeter around the property has. A couple of odd things have stood out, including the mound we mentioned earlier. I'd like to find out more about it, and I'm hoping these books might have details on it."
Later on, Roger finishes reading at around 23:00, and plans for about 8 hours of sleep.

Shifting through the three remaining books, Charles decides he's had enough of the long, meandering writings of sane individuals. Picking up the Unnamed book, he begins to read it at 19:15 Allowing for 10 minutes of us talking about things.
Unable to keep his eyes open much longer, Charles leaves Henry's/Roger's room at 22:45. He is out almost before his head hits the pillow. He plans to wake up around 8:30 the next morning (9h45m of sleep).
Obbi, you sure you want to read the longest book we have on hand? I'll work up a post tonight/tomorrow morning of books, approximate lengths and reader skillz in the Clue thread.
Post made.
