Daniel partially agrees with David "I think we should find better food, but I do believe spending the night here may also shed more light into why this house can't be sold."

"Henry has made hotel reservations for himself and I, but I'm worried about Charles' condition. It might not be a good idea to move him much, and we can't very well leave him here. I think a couple men should head out to get food to bring back here, and we'll spend the night at the Haunted Mansion. How about Henry and I take off to do that?"

"It's just my shoulder, boyos. Saw worse in the war, and a few of them are still alive and well. I'm bloody exhausted, I've probably lost my fair share of blood. Quite frankly, I'd like nothing more than to be out of here, in a place with decent lighting, a nice bed and hot food. I've got some cash, more than likely enough to put myself and another up in the same hotel. I don't want to spend much more time in here at all, least of all at night. Between everyone else, they can choose to stay here or in town.
"This place has history. Interesting history, but a bad one at that. I do plan to be back here tomorrow, at the crack of dawn, but I have no intention of spending any time at all sleeping here. It's the only reason I've not dozed off yet."
Before he forgets, "Oh, and Henry. Do you happen to have much booze left?"

Not to make excuses for him, but since the excellent first aid applied to him, Charles' situation is not as dire as initially evaluated. Certainly, he is aching, and might bleed a bit if bandages are removed, but otherwise he is quite mobile, if tired from having had a late night prior studying and imbibing alcohol, combined with an early wake-up, some studying and more alcohol, a several-mile trek to the house from town, some additional drinking, getting hit with the aforementioned chandelier, and his later post-chandelier ... drinking experience. So, in conclusion, Charles is able, but achy and tired. Definitely not in a good condition to concentrate on a book, but well enough to tool around. Game terms, Charles is close to being overtired and may suffer a penalty or two to checks until he gets some form of sleep and maybe some food. Use your judgment.EDIT Ah, way to snipe me, Oats! Your response is quite adequate and accurate. And it's up to B:L as to whether Henry has booze left.

Working on the assumption that I did read from the second book found
Ben closes his reading material abruptly and glances round at his fellows. "For what it's worth, it looks like at least one of those 'suicides' we know of was in fact murder. I'm not eager to stay in such a place overnight."

Working on the assumption that I did read from the second book found To me, that's what would have made sense, what with the ever-increasing piles of papers, rather than duplicate work of others at this early a stage.
SUMMARY OF CHARACTER OPINIONS
Charles (Oats) Wants to leave house to eat. Wants to sleep elsewhere (hotel).
David (Funky) Wants to leave house to eat. Wants to sleep elsewhere (hotel).
Benjamin (Wildcat) Is hungry (implied), but has expressed no opinion on food. Wants to sleep elsewhere.
Henry (B:L) Is hungry (implied), but has expressed no opinion on food. Has a hotel room, but has expressed no opinion on lodging.
Roger (Obbi) Wants to go get food and bring it back. Has a hotel room, but wants to stay overnight in the house.
Daniel (Mr. E.) Wants to eat. Willing to stay (or leave others staying) overnight in the house.
Someone outline plan(s) and enact them. I will counteract as needed.
This sentence is your reminder that there may be some contractual constraints (concerning Maurice) expressed earlier in the game thread. Consider "Conceal" rolls.

"Alright, alright, we'll leave for the night. Henry, Charles, Benjamin and I can take the taxicab, David and Daniel can leave in David's truck. We'll go out for food first, then retire to hotels or whatever place you plan to sleep that's not this house."
Roger lights up a cigarette.
"We have the weekend to prove the house isn't haunted anymore. Once Sunday rolls around with the house still trying to kill us, we'll have to get in contact with Maurice to get an extension to our contract. Something to keep it mind while we sleep overnight somewhere else."

This is the first time I can actually spend some time at this anyway, so...
After brushing remnants of the chandelier off of his equipment, everyone helps Daniel pack his bags, as well as the other equipment brought with them, and they are carried out to David's truck and loaded in. Roger drives the taxi up to the gate, and realizes it's been closed and locked.
"Hallo? Hans!" he calls out.
The gatekeeper comes out and unlocks the gate and steps in, closing and locking it behind him. He pockets the key, adjusts his glasses on his nose and approaches the cars. "Hello gentlemen. Leaving for the evenink? Vill you be comink back tonight?"
"We'll be back tomorrow morning," Roger looks back to the others for approving nods, "bright and early."
"OK. Did you close all the windows in the house? It rained slightly earlier, and if they're open, it vill get wet inside. I can't allow you to leave for the night unless you've secured the house. Or at least, you must walk through the house with me to close all the windows." He points to the front living room window, "that one is definitely open. While you are closing them, with your permission, I will look over your cars per the agreement."

Sighing, Roger steps back towards the house.
"Alright, I guess we'd better think back on all this then. David and Charles can stay out here, the rest of us will have to remember what windows we opened aside from the one Hans pointed out.

While it is slightly hidden by a bush, Roger notices the sitting room window to the right of the foyer is also open. Also from this vantage point, through the open southern exposure living room window, the opposing north-facing living room window can be seen propped wide open. None of the east/west facing or any other north-facing window can be seen from here.

Daniel heads to the house with Roger and Henry Benjamin glances at his watch, then hands off his shotgun to David. "I shall assist you," he says as he follows the other three. "Better to get it done quickly. In pairs, perhaps."
On entering the foyer, Daniel stops. "So I believe we have a few open here on this floor, but I can't recall opening any upstairs," he muses.
"Nor can I," adds Roger, "so let's just hurry this up and get out of here."
"Actually," intercedes Henry, "I do believe a few are open on the third floor, most notably the upstairs Library, but we should check the rooms." The others recall Henry as being the only one who didn't directly experience the earlier... incident.
Roger moves to south end of the living room to close the window, then the northern one. Both slide shut with ease. He doesn't bother closing the shutters, as they'll be back tomorrow. Benjamin walks into the downstairs study and closes the window there, as well as the downstairs library. Daniel eyes the journals, books and other paperwork hastily left on the dining room table as he closes the window there.
Meanwhile outside, Hans is giving the bags in the pickup truck a thorough going-over. He's probably looking for things like the silver candlestick holders or the teacups. He peers into the taxicab, getting a good look at Charles. "Are you OK sir?"
"Yes, just tired. Had a long day." Charles stretches a bit, but not so much that he reveals his blood-stained shirt.

(After I close all the upstairs windows. Also the paintings should already be loaded into the taxi.) You never specified that till right now; you brought them downstairs and put them on the couch. In fact, not one player ever specified taking anything out of the house when they were leaving it. Please clarify this situation before handling anything below in this post.HENRY (Heads upstairs and closes up the remaining windows.) Oh boy I hope nothing happens while we're gone! Ignoring Benjamin's worries about moving about in pairs, as the otehrs close various windows on the first floor, Henry heads upstairs, alone. He strides right up to the third floor, over to Beatrice's bedroom room, and closes the window Daniel opened earlier. As he heads back through the hallway to the upstairs study, he hears a single solid THUMP immediately above him ( NO ONE DOWNSTAIRS HEARS THIS), followed by a rhythmic, drawn-out, creaking sound. Henry looks up; it's not sounding from the hallway, but coming from the attic. Crrriiiiiiik. Creeeeeeeek. Crrriiiiiiik. Creeeeeeeek. Crrriiiiiiik. Creeeeeeeek.Henry walks into the library, heading to the window in the study. He hears the creaking echoing down from the secret stairs going to attic. Crrriiiiiiik. Creeeeeeeek. Crrriiiiiiik. Creeeeeeeek. Crrriiiiiiik. Creeeeeeeek. What do you do, hotshot? WHAT. DO. YOU. DO?

Any journals, books and papers found so far were brought downstairs and are either in the living room or the dining room, or returned to the downstairs study. This includes (in order of appearance, grouped by current location): Living Room - Journees of Brandon Dubois- Pre-war Journal of Aaron Dubois - Diary of Beatrice Dubois, from under the mattress - Family bible with family tree - Suicide note of Elizabeth Dubois - Post-war Diary of Aaron Dubois Downstairs Study - many business and legal papers (now organized) Dining Room - A bundle of letters from the nightstand in Beatrice's bedroom. - Many papers from the desk in the upstairs study. - Journal of Bertrand Hamelin - Diary of Allen Dubois - Strange book found with diary of Allen Dubois.
