HENRY (Closes the door, and pushes the table back to block it.) Well, time to go finish our reading, Roger old chap.

Now would be a good time to summarize everyone's use of time expenditure.
Here is what I'm assuming
1) Henry will continue reading Aaron's Journal. - Where?
2) Roger will continue reading the business documents. - Where?
3) Daniel, David and Benjamin will attempt First Aid against Daniel / David. - Who vs. Who?
4) D, D, B will open shutters - Specify which ones
5) DD&B will settle down in a room, or go outside, even on the porch. Or have a snack. Maybe read through that journal from the third floor. Or pick up another book. There's a library on the first floor.

Roger opens his mouth to inquiry Slater's decision, but withdraws the challenge. Whatever is down there is probably nothing of interest as of yet, and he's still attempting to settle himself down after what had just happened.
Illusion or not, it scared him half to death.
"Good idea, we probably won't be getting a second performance like that so soon. We need to figure out what the previous holders of the house were up to. See if they owed some money to some shady characters, or if they themselves were seemingly schemed."
Roger thought to himself, perhaps the Dubois were the shady characters. In any case, burying himself in those documents sounds nice to him.
He followed Henry out of the basement stairs, out of the kitchen, to return to their original reading spot in the Living room, and began reading the Business Documents once again.

Daniel takes the first aid kit and works on Davids ankle. After wrapping it as best as he could he looks himself over and applies first aid where he can.
Moving to the Dinning room, Daniel opens the northern window for some light as David takes a seat on the couch. Benjamin moves for the southern window which was opened earlier and re-opens it.
Sitting down in one of the arm chairs Daniel looks over the third floor journal. Maybe something is in this that can explain what happened upstairs.

Maybe something is in this that can explain what happened upstairs. The only window in the house opened earlier was the south western one in the Living Room. None of the rooms are very comfortable to reside in without some serious cleaning or airing-out. The couches are musty or dusty. Some definite circulation needs to take place. The easiest spots to conduct work are Aaron's desk in his office, the Dining Table in the kitchen, or just not in the house at all. Those who have lost any sanity so far have a general feeling of unease and it is hard to make themselves comfortable here.

David makes a cursory examination of his freshly bandaged ankle and nods approvingly. "Thanks, Daniel."
Moving carefully to avoid aggravating his injury, David follows Roger and Henry to the living room. "Why don't we open some more windows in here?" David slowly moves around the room, opening the other shutters. Thinking that having a seat for a while might be a healthy idea, he begins to look around for another book that might be worth reading.

Noticing that the room didn't have a suitable reading area Daniel stands up and looks for a better room. Daniel spies the work desk and sits down and begins to read the Journal.

Going to have to make First Aid rolls. I'll assume Daniel attends to David and Benjamin and vice-versa, with Benjamin too freaked-out and apologetic to really be of help. Those of you without books to read can check out the lower library room. Read the description earlier in the thread and make your choices. I'll make any rolls and a viable post tomorrow pre-noon.

(How much oil do we have? If we have plenty, Henry can light up the chandelier in the library and get some journal reading done there, since that bum Daniel took his seat.)

You have some. Maybe enough. Someone else might realistically have more, especially if that someone was supposed to maintain said chandelier in some semblance of working order.

Benjamin, after once again offering profuse apologies to the injured parties, Benjamin moves to the library and opens the shutters there. Examining the room for suitability, he moves back towards the others intending to offer assistance to Roger, or general help with the impromptu research that seemed to be going on.

David enters the library, and his eyes come to rest on the large black bible. He picks it up and carries it back to the dining room. Setting the book on the table, David attempts to open the shutters in the room, then takes a seat at the table and begins to peruse the book for a family tree or other items of interest.

HENRY (Pauses in his tracks.) Something's wrong here. I sense a plot hole. DANIEL (MR. E) (Looks up from his reading.) A what, Henry? HENRY A contradiction. Benjamin unloaded his weapon quite clearly, like so... (Shines a light in Benjamin's eyes.) Ka-Chow! Ka-Chow! BENJAMIN (WILDCAT) (Shields his eyes.) Hey, quit it! HENRY Now, that was quite a loud report. We could obviously hear it downstairs. But therein lies the mystery... where's Hans? ROGER He should be over by the gatehouse. HENRY Exactly! And on this not-quite-windy day, over a clear field, the sound should have carried. The caretaker, Hans, should have immediately noticed such a thunderous shock and would have come running. Yet... he's not here. I fear that something may have gone horribly wrong.

"To be fair, Slater, the old man probably doesn't hear much these days. And guns probably sounded different from where he's from. If Hans did hear it, he might've just mistaken it for his bag of a wife coughing."
Roger continues sifting through the documents. Business always tells the tale.

HENRYOh... I see how it is.. (Angrily puts on his hat.)Fair weather friends, the lot of you! Well fine! I'll go on my own. And if any of you need help, don't come screaming to 'ol Henry. It'll fall on deaf ears, you hear me? Well... I'm off. On the possibility that I don't see any of you again, I bid you good day. (Puts on his most courageous face and walks out, towards Hans' shack.)

12 : 45 PMRecovering from their individual ordeals, the group rallies together downstairs and begins sequence of resting, drinking, and calming down, alternately opening windows to air out the bad spirits while Daniel tends to David's leg and himself. (+1 HP back each, Daniel and David). 12 : 50 PMAt this time, the windows in the dining room, library, study, and both north and formerly-opened south windows of the living room have been opened. A slightly warm and musty breeze brushes through the house, drawing sweat out from the pores, making everyone's clothes damp, but leaving a slightly more breathable atmosphere. The mild rain outside has stopped, and the clouds are rumbling less, as though the house is giving a reprieve. Roger takes his seat back at the Dining Room table to pore through the business documents, but he can't quite keep the recent experience from his mind, and shivers a little, alone in this room, unable to concentrate. Henry sits down in the Living Room, picking up the journal of Aaron Dubois from where he left off, but something is tickling the back of his mind, as though he overlooked a clue. Daniel settles down at the study desk, to look over the journal he's found, but apparently it's full of crazed, near-unreadable gibberish. He squints at the pages and flips through them slowly, trying to grasp some sense of what's written here. It will take some effort to read the text within. 12 : 55 PMDavid hobbles through the library a bit, opening the windows as Benjamin examines the room's suitability. A little mild cleaning and it would make a more comfortable atmosphere for the obviously good reading experience it once was suited for. David picks up the bible to flip through, as Benjamin leaves to join Roger at the Dining Room table. Together their joined acumen and focus takes their minds off their earlier otherworldly experience as they read the business documents. David notes the large and apparently incomplete family tree in the front of the family Bible, and while flipping through comes across an envelope containing a note in an effeminate handwriting. He chooses to read it; the letter is from an Elizabeth Dubois. 1 : 00 PMThe letter's solemn tale is grim and most disturbing, but before David can bring it to anyone's attention, Henry has realized what had bothered him so much earlier. Hans had not heard the shotgun. He hurried outside. 1 : 05 PMHenry is at the door to Hans' gate house home. He knocks cautiously. Hans opens the door and peers out, his face half-covered in shaving soap. HANS She... thumbs idly behind him into the gatehouse she told me to clean up because of you people.
All PMs are now sent. The timeline in the 2P is now updated.
The only character (other than Charles (Oats)) who has completed reading his material is David (Funky). The rest still need more time for complete analysis, but Roger's (Obbi) speed has increased with the aid of Benjamin (Wildcat).
Meanwhile, two corrections.
CORRECTION 1: To my knowledge, Henry (B:L) was going to read the pre-war journal of Aaron Dubois, and not the Journees of Brandon Dubois book, saving said book for when Charles (Oats) returned. All prior references have been altered to the journal, not the Journees of Brandon Dubois book.
CORRECTION 2: For those of you keeping score, the woman referenced in my prior post as Emily is actually named Elizabeth and her name has been changed to the correct name.

Daniel yawns as he sets the book aside and rubs his eyes. Not the best thing I've read but it beats some training manuals.
Daniel looks over his shoulder as he hears the front door shut then he returns to the book.
Looking at the doodling on the corners Daniel sighs and begins to read the book again.

SLAM!... all three men jump as the shutters of the window behind them whack shut furiously, and WHOMP!the window slams into place, throwing the dining room into a much darker atmosphere. Similar sounds are echoed by the living room, where Daniel is startled by the northern window performing an identical maneuver simultaneously. About to ask Hans his question, Henry and Hans turn their heads back towards the mansion at the sounds of the slammed shutters from the back of the house.

HENRY (Surprised yet assured by Hans' appearance.) Good day, sir. I apologize if I accidentally woke you... HANS (NPC) She... (Thumbs idly behind him into the gatehouse.) she told me to clean up because of you people. HENRY Well, I apologize for disturbing you. I was not aware of your hours. Still, it has to be tough to catch some sleep with all this thunderous racket and strange weather. Is it usually like this around here? Well I won't trouble you any further, I'm just here to see if you have some oil for the lamps, to get some light in there. (Suddenly the windows slam and whomp.)HENRY (Looking over confused with Hans.) Does that usually happen as well? Can you please hurry with the oil? I want to check on my associates, as they've been rather unnerved recently during their time in the manor.
