WHACK! WHACK!
All still open windows slam shut, plunging the house interior into a dimly lit darkness as unadjusted eyes strain to focus.
Hans and Henry cock their heads confused as the shutters in the front of the house have closed of their own accord.

HENRY (Looking over confused with Hans.) Does that usually happen as well? Can you please hurry with the oil? I want to check on my associates, as they've been rather unnerved recently during their time in the manor. HANS (NPC) N-no. Wind, perhaps? Hans shivers.. Unt moment. He disappears back into the gatehouse, only to appear moments later armed with a shotgun and wiping his face soap off on a sleeve, and joins Henry fully on the gatehouse porch. Long ago I put a lot of oil int de carriage house. I haf not had to handle it in years.

(Disappears back into the gatehouse, only to appear moments later armed with a shotgun and wiping his face soap off on a sleeve, and joins Henry fully on the gatehouse porch.) Long ago I put a lot of oil int de carriage house. I haf not had to handle it in years. HENRY (Obviously uncomfortable about the shotgun.) Whoa, what is that for? You don't think we'll need that to protect ourselves do you? You think it'll have any effect if we are dealing with a spirit? If the oil is stored in easy to carry canisters, it's possible that I could carry them back to the manor by myself. (Looks back at the manor and the quite-suddenly closed shutters.) I wouldn't want to trouble you. I suppose the oil should still be good.

What, no one is doing anything in the now dark-n-scary mansion?HANS Points the shotgun downwards. You haf de keys. Go to the carriage house then. This you can do. Heidi approaches from behind Hans and peers at Henry from around her husband.
HEIDI Pointing at the gun. Vat haf you dat for?
HANS Nothing. Just nerves. He puts it down inside and waits at the doorway, watching Henry approach the Carriage House.

Daniel turned around to look at David just as the windows shut. "What the...?"
"What is it David?" Daniel asked as he set the journal aside and walked over to the window and attempted to reopen it.

Daniel feels (or imagines?) a slight resistance, but the window on the north wall of the living room lifts fine. He reaches to push open the shutters but the window starts falling back down. Daniel catches it and lifts it up again and looks around for something to brace it up. A log from the fireplace might do a good job, but he can't reach it from here.

More than a little shaken at the disturbance, David takes a minute to compose himself. After a moment he remembers Daniel's query. Setting the letter down on the dining room table, he walks back to the living room.
"It's... it's a letter. It might be of interest. Let's get some more light in here then go back to the others." Seeing Daniel's dilemma, David looks around for something with which to prop open the window. Spotting the fireplace and its logs, he takes action.

David finds a suitable log to help prop the window up, and Daniel opens the shutters, letting in light. As they turn away, the shutters close.

HENRY (Walks over to the carriage house and monologues.) I hope they are fine in the manor. The shutters had suddenly closed, after all, but with Benjamin seeming to not have his wits about him and with a shotgun in his possession, it is much wiser to wait and see. Sorry, friends, I will be back soon with these necessary supplies. (Fishes the keys out of his pockets, torch ready in his other hand, and prepares to enter the Carriage House while on the lookout for that darned cat.)

The sagging building that is the carriage house is of the same vintage as the mansion itself. There are three sets of double doors in the front, which could easily serve as a garage for both the taxi and David's jalopy if, as revealed upon Henry's up-close inspection, the doors themselves weren't jammed just by the pressure exerted from the bowed roof above. A quick tug on each door by the actor confirms his suspicions. In fact, if Henry was a betting man, he'd put a hundred dollars down that the doors themselves were helping hold up the building.

Daniel begins moving away as the shutters close again. "Well the wind must be picking up outside."
"Maybe we can light a fire in the fire place?" Daniel says to David as he walks to the gear to grab some of the oil and matches.
Returning to the room "Where was the letter from, David?" Daniel asks as he kneels down and works on the fireplace.

Daniel says to David as he walks to the gear to grab some of the oil and matches. Returning to the room "Where was the letter from, David?" Daniel asks as he kneels down and works on the fireplace. After a couple faulty sparks, and a little bit of interior smoke, Daniel successfully lights the tinder, and the living room fireplace begins to light.

Roger, unable to read effectively with the sudden drop in light, gets up and moves closer to the lit fireplace with Daniel.
"Yeah, it's the wind out there."
Roger's mind unable to really believe that, he might be able to recomfort himself in the illusion together with Daniel.
"Hope Henry's doing alright in that, seems like pretty bad weather. I sure as hell can't read in this anyway. So far it's nothing big, just receipts and stubs and shipping details. Nothing really sticks out."

Assuming Roger just came into the living room,
David calls towards the dining room. "Benjamin, come join us in here. And bring that letter off the table!" Benjamin walks in and hands the letter to David.
"Take a look at this, gentlemen." David passes the letter around the room.
"Seems to me like Elizabeth might be connected to the apparition we saw in some way."

HENRY (After inspecting the carriage house, walks back over to Hans.) Hans, it appears that the doors have been jammed shut by the weight of the roof. I'm afraid if we force it open, the whole thing might collapse right there in front of us. I didn't see any other way in. Is there any other way to get some oil around here? Either another way in or another source would work. If we can make a call and get a delivery, we can add that to the tab since it's needed to maintain the place.

Hans is puzzled, but walks back with Henry to the carriage house and explains the Keeper's mistake thusly.
HANS Idly stroking his chin. You are somewhat mistaken sir. There are drei, er, three sets of double doors. I sink you are right if we open the middle set, the house might collapse. We would have to check inside, but either of the side sets can probably be opened mitout problems.
He stops for a moment, looks over Henry and frowns.
I can help you open one of these end doors, but I will need help from a starke, er, schwer, heaby mann. You will not do.
Hans flexes his arms; they aren't much to look at, but a thespian's life has not included as much in the heavy lifting department (Henry has a STR of 8)
You should eat more.

HENRY (Laughs.) Actors are luminous beings, we need not this crude matter to be action stars! But I see your point, give me but a moment. (Walks hurriedly to the front manor door and knocks.) Roger, can you please come with me for a second? I need your assistance. And is everything ok in there? I heard the shutters slam from out here.

"It's fine, Slater. It was the wind."
Roger turns his head towards the direction of the others, with a raised voice "I'm heading out with Henry, just so you know."
Roger accompanied Henry towards the trek back to the Carriage House. Once there, Roger's unease began to settle back in.
"I should have asked what you needed help with before I cam out here. What's Hans here for?"

HENRY (Pats Roger on the back and points at the carriage house doors.) Well, this shouldn't take too much of your time. The doors appear to be jammed shut, and we needed one more person with enough strength to help punch it open. Naturally, I figured you could lend us a hand. Hans stored the extra oil in there, so if you could stick around and help me carry it back, it'll certainly light up my day.

Roger flexes is arms. Oh, finally, I get to sort of hit something and strides right over to the central doors to give them a good tug.
"WAIT!" cry Hans and Henry simultaneously, stopping the taxi driver in his tracks. They then proceed to explain the specifics regarding load bearing walls.
After a couple of minutes pulling on the northern-most pair of doors, Roger, Hans, and Henry, sweating profusely, crack them loose from their previously swollen-shut state. They swing outward, allowing the daylight to once again fall inside. The carriage house is filled wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling with boxes, crates, trunks, and all manner of old, stored items. It could take several man-hours to haul everything out to even give it the most cursory of inspections. Near the entrance to these doors are two dusty, knee-high oil jugs.

Ignoring the other items, Roger locates the Oil jugs and carefully lifts it, expecting a disaster to happen.
"These are pretty heavy, but it shouldn't be too hard to carry them back to the mansion. Come to think of it, we'll probably have plenty with just this one. Should we bother getting the second one?"
Roger wanted to bite his tongue, it was better to be safe than sorry. Leaving the second jug would give Henry the excuse to come back here, and his curiosity might drive him to sift through those other items. Each one of them looked to be a death trap to him at this point.

Daniel looks the letter over and hands it back to David. "Strange, very strange. Perhaps we should investigate the sitting room? Maybe there is something we missed?"
Thinking to himself, I can't imagine a bodiless voice, there must be more to it.
"While we are at it we can light a few more of the fire places to get more light into the house." Daniel begisn to walk to the gear, leaving the dining area, to gather the supplies needed.
I actually forgot to mention I followed them cause it would be hard to talk from some rooms over and yea.

David has shown the letter to everyone (Benjamin, Roger (who left), and Daniel) except Henry and Charles, obviously.

When it's slow like this and the last post is from me, that usually means I'm waiting for player interaction. I'll post the request list after this mild narration.
As Daniel is rummaging for some matches, Henry and Hans swing the front doors to the mansion open, and Roger enters, carrying a large jug of lamp oil. He sets it down in the foyer. Hans looks around the entrance to the house nervously, then takes his leave of the group, rushing back to the gatehouse and his wife.
Who is lighting what where and in what order. Dictate away. You can assign tasks to others, I just want to know what gets lit where.
The north shutters and window in the living room are forced open, and the living room fireplace s lit. A few candles in the dining room are lit. Otherwise, there's nothing else open or on fire.
