Backing up Daniel breathes heavily into his handkerchief "Well, Hans wasn't kidding when he said he doesn't step foot in the house anymore." Daniel shuts the door and looks to his left. "I hope we don't run into any other nasty surprises." To his left are a couple of shut doors. check the map The storm rumbles outside overhead. No other noises are coming from within the house, except for the sound of a book page turning from below, and the light breathing of the other three behind him.

Daniel walks towards the door on his left. "I think me and Benjamin can finish up here, David should probably stand watch in the hallway if anything else happens here."
Daniel then signals Benjamin to follow as he attempts to open the door.

"Shout if you run into something. I'm going to return downstairs with Slater, to read over more of the owner's business documents."
Roger stepped back downstairs to return to his seat, and continue his research.

Daniel walks towards the door on his left. Please specify the door on the map. Assuming bottom left-most unopened door if no response in 12 hours. Ben suddenly looks behind him. Which way was he facing? Assuming south towards Linen Closet if no response in 12 hours.

Benjamin spins around quickly, but whatever he might have been looking for isn't there anymore, just an empty hallway. Roger heads downstairs to start flipping through the folders and bills and documents again. Slater, deep in concentration, mouth moving slightly as he semi-internalizes each word, barely notices his approach. While the room is well-lit, it's quite stuffy and almost congesting in the living room. David takes position at the top of the stairs, looking south towards the hallway, staircase and linen closet. "I'll be over here if you guys need me." A quick glance to the right at the open bedroom door makes a shiver go down his back. He almost crosses his legs, standing, then glances to his left. " Err, be right back." David ducks into the water closet. Daniel pushes the door inwards, and it gives easily with a creak. Benjamin takes up position beside him, their backs to the staircase upstairs. The door opens into another sitting room, the walls decorated with floral wallpaper and furnished with a small couch and two rocki... the central-most rocking chair, the one facing the closed window, is just finishing up rocking. Near it lies a large handbag from which protrude several skeins of yarn and a pair of wooden knitting needles. Daniel swallows instinctively. Finished with his business, David tries to flush, but realizes the water hasn't been pumped up here, probably from the kitchen below, in years. He hopes no one notices. The fit in the room is a little tight, and he takes a good look at the sagging north wall. "Did you guys even come in here?" he calls out, a little lonely. David touches the plaster on the wall, and part of it falls away easily, revealing the rotten wood slats beneath. Quickly realizing he's causing damage to the house, David tries to put the plaster piece back, but failing that, places it gently in the bathtub, then wanders back to his position at the top of the stairs, hoping no one will notice.

Daniel walks into the room and reaches the rocking chair, placing his hand on it to steady it.
"Doesn't look like much to this room." Daniel said looking around.
This place must have the worst draft if doors shut and chairs rock Daniel thought. Looking down into the bag, Daniel kneels down and reaches inside checking the contents.

This place must have the worst draft if doors shut and chairs rock Daniel thought. Looking down into the bag, Daniel kneels down and reaches inside checking the contents. "There isn't much to the room." agrees Benjamin, entering and looking around. "With the southern exposure, it probably made for a nice place to sit." The minor moment of calm conversation puts them both at ease. Ben scans the floor for footprints in the dust, finding none but Daniels and his own. The two wooden knitting needles clattering to the floor, Daniel pulls out a half-finished blue wool sweater from the knitting bag. There is nothing else.

Joking Daniel tosses the sweater at Benjamin "I bet David would look good in that."
Walking out of the room, Daniel glances over at David then waits for Benjamin to exit the room. Benjamin throws the sweater down into the empty chair before leaving the room.
"Well, down the hall now and we can go relax with the others downstairs for a bit." Daniel looked down the hall and eyeballed the three remaining doors.

It won't take 2 hours to finish this floor. Anyway, pick a door. The more you move, the more time passes, the more chance I have of giving B:L / Obbi some readable info.

It won't take 2 hours to finish this floor. He could head downstairs, grab Mr. E and use it on the farm boy to pass the time. I hear it got reaaaaal lonely in the air force back then.

"I think I'd prefer to cover the whole house at once, Daniel," Benjamin said once he managed to unsnag a portion of the knitting from his shotgun. "What say we take these on from closest to furthest, then continue upstairs?"

"That works for me, just a quick glance in each room should do." Daniel walked to the closest room on the right of the hallway and and opened it peering inside.
"Cover the left one if you will good sir." Daniel said to Benjamin.
I thought it was said that the footsteps weren't positive of going upstairs just behind us when we were near the stairs originally.

I thought it was said that the footsteps weren't positive of going upstairs just behind us when we were near the stairs originally. There is a quick flutter of slight stomping as though someone was running quickly upstairs across the third floor, and another door slam. N.B. - the second door slam came from upstairs.

Their footsteps creak on the wood floor as Daniel and Benjamin make their way down the hallway to the end doors. Assuming Daniel is trying the most south-eastern door, and Benjamin is trying the one immediately across the hall from it.
Both doors hold tight. The door Benjamin is trying to open is stuck. The handle turns; it probably needs a good push. The one Daniel is trying to open is locked, so he breaks out the keys, but none of them seem to fit the lock.
There is a low rumble of thunder overhead.

I was confused becuase in a post I said I heard the slam or something upstairs you said that was for obbi.
Daniel tries the keys again but none work. "Well, I guess we won't find out what's in here. Unless someone can pick a lock."
Turning around he notes Benjamins attempt into his room is also going slowly. "I'll try the last door if you still don't manage I'll come lend a hand."
Daniel walks down to the last door in the hallway and attempts to open it.

Apparently the oaken frame had swelled with age. Grasping the knob to keep it open, Benjamin lays into the door with all of his (10) strength. *whumph* It budges, then pops open. The room itself is mostly empty, and slightly cool. It is, or rather was, the bedroom of a child, furnished with a small bed, a tiny wardrobe, and a beat-up looking wooden chest. Daniel has confirmed that none of the keys on his ring fit the door. Yes, I added positions for the sake of adding positions. The time is 12 : 25 PM

I was confused becuase in a post I said I heard the slam or something upstairs you said that was for obbi. You'll have to point out the post to which you refer. I'll try to be less confusing. From the main staircase, David calls out, "I'll check these small folding wall door thing over here." Daniel walks down to the last door in the hallway and attempts to open it. "It's a big tube chamber of sorts with ropes in it. I'm going to pull them!" Everyone in the house has heard David's announcement. There is a creaking sound heard upstairs, overhead as the ropes move on a pully. A scraping sound is heard downstairs from the kitchen. eek-ert, eek-ertDaniel pays David no mind, and pushes open the door nearest the dumbwaiter. eek-ert, eek-ert It opens into an L-shaped room containing only a bed frame with a bare mattress, a small chest of drawers, and a fireplace. eek-ert, eek-ert The floor is bare, without rugs or carpets. eek-ert, eek-ert Benjamin pauses to examine the room carefully, then (assuming nothing gribbly happens) moves to and opens the chest.
roll... roll...Benjamin finds nothing of interest; a couple of melted wax crayons (blue and red) and a small, dingy blanket. eek-ert, eek-ert He walks over to the wooden chest lifts the lid slowly, and peers in. Inside is a small doll, its china head smashed into fragments. eek-ert, eek-ert eek-ert "Oh hey, there's a platform in here. Heh. I could probably get in this thing."

Daniel walks out of the room and hears Davids comment. "It's probably best you don't David, we don't know how much weight it can handle now."
Daniel walks over and inspects the dumb-waiter. "For now I think we should head upstairs once Benjamin is done in that room."

"For now I think we should head upstairs once Benjamin is done in that room." In the bottom of the dumbwaiter car is a large brown stain, soaked deeply into the wood. Wildcat, if you have any further actions in the room, you can handle them and I will answer any questions. The end result will be the following:Benjamin walks back down the hall to where Daniel and David are.

"Are you ready?" All nod in agreement. "Gentlemen first." The trio head to the third floor, brushing cobwebs out of the way. No one has been up here for ages. A closed-in feeling pervades upstairs, doubled by the dustiness and darkness. The walls are covered in paper with a flowered design, leading down to hard oaken floors. A dingy green carpet lines the middle of the hall. Each of the doors is closed, and the dark aspect of the area does not allow anyone to see around the corner to the end of the hall. The time is 12 : 30 PM
