"This is ridiculous, we already uncovered anything this room could've been hiding from us!"
Roger glanced outside the room, towards the upstairs library.
"I think we need to get back in that Study. Something still bothered me about that place."
Roger swallows his fear and walks out of the room with the men towards the Study.

Roger leads the way back to the study. He stops at the door, then looks back into the library, then the study. Then he stands in the doorway between the library and study, facing the east yes, east wall. Then he peeks into the bedroom immediately east of the library and study and rushes back into the study. Then the keeper updates the map.The time is 5 : 10 PM

Daniel notices what Roger is doing and begins looking at the east wall in the study and library as well. It appears that the rooms differ in length to Daniel.
Daniel begins examining the east study wall, tapping on it occasionally.

@sux 2 B:L for being online and yet not posting to the game; he even checked his PM.Daniel inspects the painting on the east wall of the study. The painting is a beautiful and tasteful depiction of villagers or peasants at a graveyard, with focus on a funeral, as well as variety of other activities taking place. Nothing out of the ordinary. It is signed by a Br???l? or Bn???l ?

(WORK WORK WORK)HENRY (Interrupts Daniel.) Don't touch those. They're decent paintings by some artist. His son Peiter is famous for terrifying Stygian scenes. As a collector of fine art, I'd like to take these off Maurice's hands once the investigation is complete. He couldn't possibly appreciate something so worthless. (Clasps his hands.) Now, those books do look interesting, and there seems to be more to this dastardly Allen than we thought. Still, I wouldn't thumb through that scribbling of a book since it seems to be a waste of time.

Game is in player's court.
The time is
5 : 15 PM
This is the time at which Charles finishes his relation of clues to Benjamin (who responds after checking his notes) and David downstairs, then has that terrible drink of alcohol.
EVERYONE IS NOW ON THE SAME TIMELINE.

"I must say, Charles, you accomplished quite a lot in the time you spent on research. I'm particularly interested in the bits from the journal about a secret room in the basement; that's definitely something we should look into once the others finish upstairs."

"Well, thank you kindly old bean, err... young bean. I do what I can, and I must say I've taken quite a shine to the mystery surrounding this lodging. I do enjoy tales of freedom from oppression, so I too took a good deal of notice surrounding this mysterious hidden room. I do wonder how easily located it will be, however. I'm not sure how long we have to remain here until our good employer does become suspicious, and I do believe we should be well out of town in advance of his arrival, what with the damage that has been wrought here, both by our hands and hands unseen.
"But I digress. I do wonder what they've managed to find upstairs. Being bed... well, couch-ridden is hardly what I had in mind when I signed up for this. I wish I could explore more. Find some ideas for a book or two, perhaps. Maybe instead write a kind of Dubois Family Through the Ages, A Tale of Tragedies and Triumphs.
But, I digress again. What do you think, Ben, ol' chap, eh?"
Charles, hoping he didn't come off too shaken or rambling, shot a quick, furtive glance towards his flask, on the ground just outside of arm's length, before turning his attention to the reporter he just called out to.

Daniel walks back to the library inspecting the book cases, if they were built strangely or if any of the books are out of place.

None are out of place, or even too particular, but the sheer variety and quantity of books is impressive, especially considering the smaller library downstairs. shhh fump!A book falls off the shelf on the opposite side of the room, landing open to a page.

Charles briefly considers shouting up to the men upstairs, but he decides against it.
A few minutes later, he figures he may as well try, but cannot muster the strength or energy to shout loud enough.
He sighs, resigning himself to more rest, wondering if the reporter scraped up anything new.

"I think you're right Charles, I heard something as well. You rest here, I'll take a stroll upstairs to check it out." David heads for the stairs, intending to see what's going on with the gents on the third floor.

Daniel turns around suddenly as he hears the noise of the book hitting the floor.
Walking towards the open book Daniel kneels down and picks the book up to return it, glancing at the page it was opened to.

"It's obvious there's a crawlspace or something on this wall, and I bet it's got what we're looking for. If there was just a way to figure out a way in there-"
Roger jumps at the sound of the book slamming on the floor in the other room, and walks into view to see Daniel picking it up.
Roger walks over to the eastern side of the library, and presses against the stuffed Ekapi with his undamaged hand, paranoid that it will fall over and somehow harm Daniel.

The binding of the book, or rather booklet, that fell is worn, and opens to an early page presenting the following imagery: The full title of the twenty-six page booklet is An Astronomical Description of the Late Comet or Blazing Star; As it appeared in New-England in the 9th, 10th, 11th, and in the beginning of the 12th Moneth, 1664. Together with a Brief Theological Application thereof by an author, "S. D." Daniel picks up the book and places it back in the slot it fell from, between some worn scientific journals and a thick, leather-bound journal titled Mélanges scientifiques et littéraires, by J.B. Biot. As Roger caresses the okapi, he hears someone traversing the stairs, then David curiously peeks into the library from the hall.

"Hello there," David says as he enters the third floor library. Pausing for a moment to wonder what exactly Roger might be planning to do to the stuffed creature, he decides it's none of his business and presses on with the reason he tromped up the stairs.
"Were you fellows banging on something up here? I heard a noise like someone knocking on a solid object, then an empty one, alternating back and forth." Recalling Charles' lecture, he adds, "Oh yes, and according to the professor's research, there may be a secret chamber in the basement."

Of note, none of the three of Roger, Daniel, and Henry noticed anything different between their knocks against the wall, but they do realize they might have been knocking loud enough to be heard downstairs by a more attentive ear or two.

"Is that what you heard? We couldn't really tell."
Roger takes his hand off the stuffed creature, realizing it wasn't about to do anything.
"A hidden chamber in the basement? Wouldn't doubt that. For the time being, why don't you knock around on that wall and figure out which parts got the crawlspace in there, as you have better ears than any of us."

Daniel watches David as he begins knocking on the wall.
Daniel then inspects the journals and books that were found hidden within the desk. He flips through them, reading a page or two before shuffling through to a different section.

Benjamin shuffles around for a while, then breaks open his shotgun and takes a seat. After a few minutes of humming tunelessly he gets bored and fetches Aaron Dubois' journal. Taking care not to damage the pages of the old book, he idly starts to read through it.

David the farm hand knocks on the walls for a bit and makes his way past the large, obviously semi-dust-free space where Henry had taken down the picture, and gets to the northernmost part of the wall. He stops, knocks and listens for a moment, then presses inward on the carved wooden paneling here; the wall springs back towards him, swinging open up against the northern wall, revealing a well-hidden chamber which releases a dusty vapor into the room. Inside the chamber is a dusty wooden staircase, leading upward. There are no footprints or markings in the dust; this chamber has not been opened for some time. The time is 5 : 25 PM
