Of note, the hole in the second floor ceiling where the chandelier used to hang does not visibly extend to the third floor above.

"The third floor does need to be fully investigated, we can leave this chandelier examination behind, as I could be wrong about what I heard. This house could just be falling apart on its own."
Roger and the rest begin their trip upstairs.

Tired. Other people can assume I'm passing around my notes while wincing in pain and trying to stay immobile.

HENRY (Checks the room leading to the dumbwaiter.) We might need your keys, Daniel.

Daniel and the others arrive at the third floor.
"We might need your keys, Daniel." Henry says. Daniel hands Henry the keys and shines the light across the third floor landing, spotting the damage from before.
Daniel sets the rope down near the door and shines the light onto the door as Henry works with the keys.

I think you mean next to it, like the dumbwaiter can be accessed via the hallway

1 - No room has a dumbwaiter in it other than the Kitchen on the first floor. 2 - Dumbwaiters not on the first floor are only accessible by the hallway. 3 - Which room, which floor?

Henry and Roger head to the third floor, Daniel leading the way, electric torch in hand. The wallpaper towards the end of the hall has been torn to shreds from the shotgun blast of earlier; bits and detritus, as well as the errant gewgaw from the storage room littering the floor. Henry tries the door furthest down the hall, and to his surprise, it easily opens inwards with a creak. Daniel shines the flashlight in as he and Henry enter while Roger keeps lookout. The room was once a large, sumptuous bedroom, but now stands nearly empty, the bedframe stripped of its mattress and linens and the drawers of the two cabinets hanging partially open and empty. A cursory examination reveals nothing out of the ordinary. Meanwhile downstairs, Charles relaxes on the couch feeling achy, but better, while David stokes the living room fireplace to keep it going. Benjamin keeps a lookout, kicking various loose crystals back into the foyer and dwelling on the potential cleanup involved. The floor has a huge gouge in it, the landing of the chandelier having shaken the house to the foundations. The time is 4 : 40 PM

Having calmed down a great deal, David begins the task of sorting through the gear, moving items that are not too badly damaged to the billiard table in the game room. 'cause the dining room table is covered in documents IIRC dining room table.

HENRY (Takes a look around the room for clues.) Hmm, doesn't seem to be anything interesting. This might have been the room where... you know what, let's check the next room over.

"One second Henry." says Daniel.
Daniel inspects inside the closet then walks towards the bed inspecting the mattress and then underneath it.

... the bedframe stripped of its mattress and linens and the drawers of the two cabinets hanging partially open and empty. Daniel inspects inside the closet then walks towards the bed inspecting the mattress and then underneath it. Closet? Mattress? FAIL.A thorough inspection of the room, going so far as Henry coaxing Daniel into using his arm-length to measure the inside of the cabinets vs. their placement against the walls to see if they're hiding hidden rear compartments, turns up nothing out of the ordinary. Daniel even attempts to turn over a non-existent mattress and inspect the invisible closet. Roger provides an extra set of eyes and makes sure nothing is missed. Fortunately, there was apparently nothing to miss in the room. The time is 4 : 45 PM

HENRY The room's cleaned out. It's likely this hasn't even been used as a guest room for a long while. Let's move onto the next room. (Unlocks the next door and peeks in.)

After Daniel inspects the room and the various items he imagined he walks back out. "Next room then, Henry?"
Walking up with Henry as he unlocks the next door Daniel shines his light into the room as Henry peeks in.

The door swings inward, a musty smell of old paper emanating outward into the hall, enveloping the trio as they stare into the dark room. Rather than entering, as there apparently is no window for counter-light, Henry pushes the door open as far as it goes, revealing a large library, but before he can be astounded by the bookery, he is rather surprised when a beast looms out from the darkness to his right, baring it's large teeth and coming straight for him!

Roger reacts to Henry's surprised cry and rushes into the room to punch the beast with his undamaged hand.
His hand raised, he examines the curiously still bear.
Assuming it's possible I can just do this without knocking Mr. D out of the way, making him stumble back, fall over the railing, and down the stairs.

Benjamin continues to scan the avenues of approach for several long minutes, then carefully breaks open his shotgun and rests it in the crook of his arm. "Perhaps while we wait for the others to complete their sweep, we should pool our knowledge so to speak, go over everything we've learned to date."

Roger reacts to Henry's surprised cry and rushes into the room to punch the beast with his undamaged hand. OH THANK GOD!Roger shoves his way past Daniel, forcing him to stumble backwards and almost throwing the military-bred man over the railing and down the stairs. But as Daniel might tell Roger, almost is only good in horseshoes and hand grenades. His hand raised, he examines the curiously still bear. BOOOOOOOO. SUCK.Under the light, the slavering horse-beast is slightly less threatening, posed to pounce, it is a curiosity. Roger would almost liken odd-looking four-legged beast to a dark brown or purplish giraffe, or extremely hairy deer, until the light hits the animal's rear, which has legs covered in black and white stripes, like a zebra. "A copy", states Daniel, nonchalantly, after brushing himself off and entering the room. "A copy of what?" ask Henry and Roger simultaneously. "The animal. A copy." "What's it a copy of," probes Roger. "A giraffe and a zebra?" "No." corrects Daniel. "It's called an OH KAH PEE. Okapi. An animal discovered in Africa around 1901. A stuffed one." The room is an impressive library containing at least a couple thousand books on a wide variety of subjects. A single oil portrait hangs on each of the east and west walls, while the north wall is broken by a great pair of polished oak doors with brass handles. The only other object in the green-carpeted room is the aforementioned stuffed okapi, mounted on a pedestal. Of note and I omitted it earlier by accident, libraries, such as this one and the one downstairs, and even the Exeter and main libraries, have skill ratings that can be used to enhance certain research rolls attempted while using the specified library as a research facility; this is why people use libraries during their research attempts. Had no one been able to identify the okapi, you could have searched the library for zoology books; the skill enhancement for this particular library, for example, would give you up to a 45% Skill. For zoology. For other topics, that would depend. Lucky for everyone, Daniel has high inherent Zoology and Biology skills.

Daniel rests his hand on the okapis head as if petting it. Daniel looks up at the painting on the east wall and then glances around the room looking at the various books.
Looking around the room still Daniel speaks to the others "So, shall we go further in now?"

Daniel rests his hand on the okapis head as if petting it. Daniel looks up at the painting on the east wall and then glances around the room looking at the various books. The plaque on the base of the okapi identifies it as a trophy of Brandon Dubois. Both portraits, on the east and west walls, are of men, and each is dated 1832. They look similar enough to be relations. Daniel is no learned scholar, but looking at the books, he recognizes a well-stocked, or at least a well-stocked-appearing, library when he sees one. Some of these volumes might be quite expensive or rare. Looking around the room still Daniel speaks to the others "So, shall we go further in now?" Neither of the others is sure whether the question was rhetorical.

Daniel tries the handle to the inner room. The doors open wide, letting a modicum of light into the library from the cracks of sunlight sneaking through single window of the study. The floor is neatly covered by the same green carpeting found in the library, while the walls are covered by carved, wooden panels of Flemish design. Alone, in the center of the room, stands a large, antique desk and chair. A framed painting hangs on each wall. Roger, Henry and Daniel enter. With all three in here, the room seems more cramped than it rightly should. The time is 4 : 50 PM
