David exits the storage room and follows Benjamin downstairs to retrieve his own shovel and work gloves. "Perhaps I'd better bring my rifle as well, just in case."

HENRY (Coughs.) Shouldn't someone finish exploring the third floor? Just to make sure that no one is waiting and watching in the shadows? We still haven't found whoever... or whatever... escaped from the kitchen earlier.

I'm not making decisions for you guys; your call on your player character assignments.
Also, note that if something isn't mentioned in this thread explicitly to your character, unless summarized as "I tell him all about X", the target character in question is not presumed to know it. Not singling anyone out.
BTW...
The time is... 4 : 25 PM
Allowing for journal read-aloud-ing, general chatter and other fuck-a-roundary. Probably not going to advance time till my next major post based on character activity.

"Having re-perused my notes, I do not know how good of an idea it would be to excavate the mound on the outskirts of the property.
"I believe it to be an Indian burial mound. It has been excavated before, to no avail. The only thing that came of the excavation was the severe injury of one 'Bertrand Hamelin'.
"Now, by no certain means am I an archaelogical expert, and as such, if any of you gentlemen know a thing or two, as they say, I would be open to assistance."

Roger heads along with the others, and heads into their Equipment repository to grab one of Daniel's Foxhole shovels.
"We don't need a lot of us for this. It's just another out-of-place find. I think David and I can handle this on our own, the rest of you would be better suited exploring the manor."
Equipping the pair of gloves, Roger walks to Ben located out front and grabs a shovel from him.
"God knows what we'll find in that mound, Ben, you sure you don't want to head back inside and do some research with Henry?"

"Roger, before you go I do think it would be prudent to, if nothing else, give some consideration to the fact that the only other person who has tried to unearth the mound suffered severe injuries.
"I'm not one for superstition, but a little paranoia goes a long way to improving one's lifespan. The simple fact that this house has seen so much violence, death and injury suggests to me that we should look before we leap."

"I intend to look. With a shovel. It's so far the only way I know of where we can figure out why there's a trail leading to the mound. If you have any other ideas, I'm all ears."

Ben fingered the handle of the shovel nervously and replied, "Well, I would hate to leave you to do all the heavy work yourself Roger. I wonder, though, if we shouldn't heed Charles and try to find out some further information before we forge blindly ahead, so to speak?"

"It's trouble if I go alone, that's for sure. Whatever's going on here, they're going to act on a moment of weakness like that. If the majority idea is to sit tight and figure out more about the mound, then I'll work with that."
Roger drops his shovel in the foyer, and begins walking back upstairs, "One thing's for sure, I'm damn tired of sitting around reading. Either we hunt the guy causing problems, or we get an exorcist performed. Either way, all we gotta do is make the house not haunted."

"Go then," argued Charles. "Maybe I'll even be able to patch you up afterwards."
Ben fingered the handle of the shovel nervously and replied, "Well, I would hate to leave you to do all the heavy work yourself Roger. I wonder, though, if we shouldn't heed Charles and try to find out some further information before we forge blindly ahead, so to speak?"
"It's trouble if I go alone, that's for sure." Roger frowned. "Whatever's going on here, they're going to act on a moment of weakness like that.
Benjamin's jaw dropped. "All we've got to do?"
David felt he'd be the voice of reason, but before he could get the word out, there was a loud crack! overhead immediately followed by a tinkling that Charles would later liken to hundreds of patrons simultaneously clinking their wineglasses together.
WHAM!
"Look out!" screamed Benjamin, as he and David quickly got out of the way of crystal chandelier as it crashed down into the middle of the foyer, the crystals raking Roger's arm as it passed him on the stairs, causing a gash -3 HP, and ultimately slamming into Charles' shoulder, throwing the man to the ground -5 HP. Shattered glass and crystal are everywhere.
Roger: -3 HP Charles: -5 HP
Yeah, this is something everyone in the house is going to have to react to.

Benjamin picked himself unsteadily off the ground where he had fallen, putting a hand on David's shoulder in a silent question as to whether he had been hurt. Upon receiving a shake of the head as his response, he gathered his wits about him and moved to Roger's side to offer him aid.

Forgot Embarkation is AFK today. Good thing I didn't kill him. Immediately post-crash, Daniel looks at Henry. "What the hell was that?" They rush to the stairs down to the second floor. Benjamin picked himself unsteadily off the ground where he had fallen, putting a hand on David's shoulder in a silent question as to whether he had been hurt. Upon receiving a shake of the head as his response, he gathered his wits about him and moved to Roger's side to offer him aid. Charles is now lying in a pool of his own blood. He's lost almost half his hit points. My prior post has been adjusted to account for any confusion.

Wasn't sure if my limited training would see his injuries as life-threatening if it was 'just' crush damage, but if it's blood all over the place I would think that Ben would know to go to him first.
Ben checked over Roger's wound quickly, then glanced downwards and felt his eyes widen in alarm at the mangled state of his other colleague. He hurried over, as best he could after that shock, to examine Charles' wounds and apply and pressure or makeshift bandages as necessary. "Get the first aid supplies over here!" he shouted urgently to anyone who might be closer to them than he.

The first aid supplies are buried under the extremely heavy chandelier. Looking over the moaning British man, Benjamin can't make heads or tails of his injures, but does manage to pull him free and drag him a bit towards the front doors.

"Daniel, get down here and give us a hand with Charles!" Turning to Benjamin and Roger, David asks, "Do you think it would be safe to move him? He might be more comfortable on one of the sofas."
While the other men consider the question, David begins to carefully examine the fallen chandelier, searching for a way to safely extricate the first-aid supplies.

Any rules against trying to have another look at Charles' wounds?

Any rules against trying to have another look at Charles' wounds? Yes.
Rules for First Aid (or Medicine) - Only one attempt per wound per player. - Only one successful attempt may be applied per wound. - Success heals 1d3 damage. - Having supplies on hand not necessarily required, but add bonus to skill check.
- Benjamin cannot attempt again against Charles. - Roger has already successfully handled his own wound.

"Daniel, get down here and give us a hand with Charles!" Turning to Benjamin and Roger, David asks, "Do you think it would be safe to move him? He might be more comfortable on one of the sofas." While the other men consider the question, David begins to carefully examine the fallen chandelier, searching for a way to safely extricate the first-aid supplies. It's a very heavy brass metal chandelier, formerly covered in dusty crystal teardrops. It's landed on a couple duffel bags, but David spots the chain from which the chandelier hung, and pulls it off. The opposite end of the chain is secured to a couple of wooden boards, which apparently splintered apart, causing the metal and crystal furnishing to drop.

WHAM![/size]
Oh fu....
Then darkness. And a weight.
Pain. Pain was plentiful.
What in the bloody world?
What was I doing? Right... cab driver wanted to go digging.
I disagreed.
Ow. Ow ow ow. Fucking hell ow.
Screaming "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Fuckin' 'ell, ow!"
Then, the sensation of movement. Relief, somewhat. Pain persists, however.
Light-headed.
The commanding officer will be pissed.
Wait.
No.
Officers? No, officer, I haven't been drinking. Of course I wouldn't think to drink officer. Have a nice night.
Wait.
That's not it either.
Where the rutting hell am I?
There was the walking. The dirty Hun. Charles could vaguely recall boxes.
He was tired. And hurting.
The thing beneath him was soft.
Trying to sit up, Charles realizes he's hurt. He takes a second to consider things.
Looking around, he sees bits of bronze and crystal.
Something broze.
Something suspended.
Chandalier?
Must've been.
Lousy fucking constructing. Dubois will be lucky if he has anything left when my lawyers are done with him.
Pain. Still a lot of pain.
Head still... slow. Words unclear.
Blood loss? Probable.
I don't think any of the others know much about wounds.
The others.
Was anyone else hit?
The cab driver. He'd been arguing with him. Right next to him.
Is the driver alive?
Is the driver unharmed?
. . .
Questions for later.
Self first. Others later.
Must try to do... something. Anything.
Blood loss. Probably broken bones.
What can I do? Can I do anything at all?
Have to try, regardless.
Here goes nothing...
Success. Sitting up now. People seem to be speaking. Sounds... fuzzy.
"Sounded like champagne flutes... all clinking together..."
Darkness again.

HENRY What!? (Makes his way downstairs cautiously, hoping to not run into a shotgun.) Oh my goodness, Charles! We need to get him to a hospital! (Does whatever he can to sterilize the wound with his flask and to stop the bleeding with whatever is available on hand.) Someone lend me a hand. I'm no doctor, I only play one!

Roger bites his tongue as his arm continually shoots strong stinging sensations up and down his entire body, he looks downward to see Charles on the ground, bleeding badly.
"Professor!"
Roger looks back up again, attempting to see if a culprit is near, trying to decide if he should run up, or come back down to assist the others.
Realizing that an encounter in this condition would not play out well, Roger makes his way back to the Foyer.
"He's hurt pretty bad. Dammit. Who has the first aid kit? Get him patched up and I'll take him to the nearest hospital."
